This is my fifteenth year teaching 8th grade Language Arts at Creekside Middle School, and I cannot wait for the year to begin! Before moving to Carmel, I lived in Evansville where I graduated from the University of Evansville with a double major in English and Secondary Education. I taught high school honors and regular Language Arts, along with speech and debate.
In 2012, I earned my Masters in Curriculum and Instructional Leadership from Indiana Wesleyan, and in the 2014-2015 school year I became the English Language Arts Department Chair. I love working with students and other teachers, and I am looking forward to helping our department continue its legacy of excellence.
When I'm not teaching, I spend most of my time with my husband and my two children, Grace and Lincoln. We love traveling (especially to Disney World), reading together, watching movies, hiking, and playing trivia games. In 2010, I combined my passion for reading and traveling when I was awarded a Lilly Teacher Creativity Grant. During this trip, I had the opportunity to travel through Spain, France, and Italy following the footsteps of Ernest Hemingway. Again in 2018, I won a second grant to learn how to surf at two of the best surf schools in California and Hawaii! I feel very blessed that I could combine my passions and have these adventures!
You will learn quickly that I am enthusiastic and LOVE Creekside. So, be ready to learn and have fun when you walk into my classroom:)
